Badminton

The Thursday evening badminton group has been running in its current format for around 14 years. 

Numbers vary, on average six people attend each week.

We spilt the year into three sessions, January through to Easter, after Easter until usually around the end of June or July and finally September up to before Christmas.

Each session lasts for around ten to twelve weeks.A charge is made for each week played.

The evenings are also a social occasion. We start at around 7:30 PM.

We do not play at a competitive level and welcome players of all abilities. We play with plastic shuttles, the feather ones used by the professionals not being durable enough for our level of play.  

We mostly play doubles and score according to the old rules, ignoring the new scoring format introduced by the International Badminton Federation in 2006!
